I am Yoshida, president of Yamada Shusei Ltd., a professional apparel garment repair group in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture.
We have two employees who will be working on the September 22nd and 23rd holidays, both because of “rice harvesting”.
The timing of rice harvesting cannot be decided by human convenience. It is no good if the rice has fallen down too much, and it is no good if it is right after a rain.
I realized once again that agriculture is possible only when we accept not only the blessings of nature but also all its harshness.
It is not a matter of course that rice is on the table. Grateful for this, we had lunch today at a pork miso soup and rice ball restaurant in the rice paddies of Sanjo City.
Grateful!
